As an American Muslim, I am compelled to speak out against two opposite and yet not too dissimilar groups (”Hate groups pose new security concerns for inauguration,” Jan. 13). One is the extremist Muslim cleric, who from outside our borders, threatens to harm American civilians. But the other is the white supremacist, usually belonging to a radical Christian brand, who, from within the confines of our own soil, plots to dispose of our incoming commander in chief, solely because he is African American. To both, I say you cannot (and will not) win support from either religion or nation. The mottos of my Muslim faith are ‘Love for all, hatred for none’ and ‘Love of country is part of faith.’ Thus no matter how many times you try to harm our people or president, we will keep chanting, “Yes we can!”
